I know that it's really difficult to identify the problem from this so i'm going to give as much detail possible.
The problem: I experience sudden drops in FPS whenever very sudden action happens in a game. Like maybe in Planetside 2, if I turn really quickly while in a jet the game starts to slow down. Or in Dota 2, the game gets a little choppy whenever a full teamfight starts. I think I recall these games running pretty smoothly a couple months ago.
Information that might help:
-This thing gets unusually hot. It can get to 75C (GPU) and 70C (CPU) during stressful performance. Taking the side panel off or placing the tower in a well ventilated area doesn't seem to really change temperature/performance. Also, I do dust the thing regularly.
-The RAM seems to be unusually slow. I used that Performancetest program and it scored a 1046. It also had very low marks for pretty much all memory functions (reading cached/uncached, writing, latency, "database operations").
-I tried using this program called System Monitor which identifies what is bottlenecking the system performance at any given moment. The HDD almost always comes up as the bottleneck during gameplay and regular use. It's also 80% occupied but completely defragmented and optimized.
-The computer should be clean of all viruses, malware, and spyware.
