Virus? 64 bit windows thinks it is 32 bit

I've been having issues recently with my computer and I'm not sure if its just my computer acting up or a virus. A few months ago I started having an issue when opening My Computer. I would open it and it would just show a loading bar and no icons. Here is a link to a picture of what it does: http://i45.tinypic.com/wvwhz8.png It does this for a while until it finally loads, or I can reopen it and sometimes it works, or I can open a different folder and navigate to My Computer that way.

Now just a few days ago I had an issue while trying to install Microsoft Office. It told me I was running on a 32 bit version of windows so the 64 bit version of Office I was trying to install would not work. Now today I tried playing FSX and it told me that my graphics card doesn't meet the minimum requirements for shader support. I've never had any issues running FSX before so I decided it is time to try and reformat my computer but when trying to do so got the following message:

"The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue.

You can’t upgrade 64-bit Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows. To upgrade, obtain a 64-bit version of the installation disc, or go online to see how to install Windows 7 and keep your files and settings."

I just scanned my computer a couple days ago and came up with nothing. Does anyone have any idea what is going on and if there is anyway to fix this problem? I'm stuck and have no idea what to do at this point.
