I am having issues with my 2TB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex external hard drive. I have tried searching for this issue other places, but so far I have not come up with anything. First, let me explain my situation.
Recently I got a new SSD and, naturally, I want to boot off of this instead of my old hard drive. I got windows 7 installed just fine, so I currently have windows on both of my hard drives. I loaded up windows off of my old hard drive so I could go through my files and save them all from the eventual formatting. This went just fine as well, I could freely move files between my old hard drive and my external drive. Now this is where I got stuck.
I booted up windows using my new SSD and started to get ready to format my old drive when I noticed I couldn't see my Seagate anymore. I poked around with it a little; I unplugged it and put it back in, tried to restart and did every other little trick I could think of, but still nothing. When this didn't work I opened up disk management to see if that would bring it up, however it didn't show at all. At this point I was getting confused, so unplugged my Seagate and took it to my other computer to see if that would recognize it and it showed up just fine, so that wasn't the issue.
Then I had one last test, I restarted my computer, booted off of my old hard drive and plugged it in. A second went by and I heard the familiar device connection sound and it showed up with all of my other drives, so this tells me it's not an issue with the Seagate, nor is it an issue with my hardware (at least I think), so I really don't know how to continue on from here.
