cd drive recognition problem

hi there.i recently upgraded to windows7.i have a single cd,dvd rw drive .my problem is that my p.c. no longer recognizes the cd part of the drive.the dvd part of the drive works perfectly. i have gone to device manager and tried to update the drivers but it says my drivers are up to date i was on vista home premium before and had no trouble with the drive .any help would be appreciated thankyou :(
