Windows 8 file sharing confusing

I'm trying to share files between my Windows 8 laptop and Windows 8 desktop. The laptop is connected to the router via wifi and desktop via network cable. I have a homegroup made on the desktop, but when I try to connect to it on the laptop it says "Your network connection must have IPv6 enabled to create or join a homegroup. To enable IPv6, start the HomeGroup troubleshooter." All the troubleshooter tells me to do is enable IPv6 on the internet connected. IPv6 is enabled on the internet wifi connection.
