I'm new to this site. I'm also a beginner when it comes to connections and stuff.
I have a desktop and laptop that I've connected to a wireless network in my home.
I picked up an olderlaptop and have not been able to connect to my wireless network. All I need for this laptop is to edit
and upload pictures to snapfish.
My son brought over a wireless USB adaptor and couldn't get that to work either.
The laptop is an HP using windows XP Home editions version 2002 service pack 2. Pentium R 4 CPU 2.80GHz
In the device manager the network adaptors are 1394 net adapter and realtek rtl 8139 family PCI fast ethernet nic.
Neither one has a red x
Under other devices (still in device manager)
base system device
hp integrated bluetooth module
multimedia audio controller
network controller
pci modem
sm bus controller
video controller(VGA Compatible)
all have yellow question marks
It's also missing (?) the wireless icon. There is a message Local area connection a network cable is unplugged.
I can connect to the internet with a cable connection.
