Hi,
Laptop Model: Toshiba Sattelite Pro L450
Problem: Powers but No display
Laptop not dropped or anything. The monitor just displays black screen. No power. The laptop powers and I can hear the fan and the hard drive acquiring as what you would hear on normal boot sequence. These are the steps I have performed so far.
Battery drain:
1. Removed the battery
2. Pressed power button for 1 minute
3. Connected the power cord then press the power
result: same
Screen tilt:
1. Removed battery
2. Tilt screen 20-30% enough to press the power button
result: same
External Monitor:
1. Removed battery
2. Connected power cord
3. Connected external monitor
4. Pressed power button
5. Pressed Fn+F5
result: same
Disconnected peripherals
1. I removed hard drive, dvdrom, memory
2. Pressed power
result: same
CMOS battery reset
1. Removed cmos battery overnight
2. Fitted cmos battery again
3. Pressed power button
result: same
Memory module
1. Removed memory module
2. Fitted to another slot / Used another memory module
result: same
Tried all this with and without battery, I get the same result. One thing I noticed, no sound or anything. I tried pressing any keys for longer period of time but nothing happened. Removing the memory module also doesn't produce any sound. Pressing the power button for a long period of time while the power cord is connected doesn't turn off the laptop.
I am confused whether this is a motherboard or a screen fault.
Please help. Any help is greatly appreciated.
