Solved: Can't connect to one website IP and no email either

Hello
Weird problem that I can't solve.
My laptop will not connect to my own website or connect to the mail server. I have a couple of sites hosted on the same web space with the same IP but non will connect.
I have a desktop PC and another laptop on the network and they connect fine which rules out an IP blocks in the Linksys router and beyond.
If I go through a proxy then I can connect.
I tried switching from wireless to hardwire with no change
I have turned off the firewalls and antivirus
I have scanned with Security Essentials and Malwarebytes-OK
I have checked host file.
I have tried Firefox and IE but the email doesn't work so not a browser problem.
I CAN connect to the website backend Cpanel.

I have XP Sp3 OS

DNS checks out OK

Anyone got any ideas ?
It has to be some setting in the laptop as everything else works OK
