My mom just upgraded to a new Win7 PC. I had to get her a USB dial-up modem because that is what she wants to stick with.
I have tried 2 modems (both the small box on the end of a USB cord style). Both always connect at 24Kbps - never more, never less. I have checked the modem settings and set the maximum connection speed at 115000 (or so - can't recall exactly). Other settings are the default. I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers.
The internal modem on her old XP computer connects to the same ISP from the same line at around 40Kbps (varies).
Tried contacting tech support for the modem and have gotten nothing helpful.
It seems 24Kbps is some kind of limit because it never varies.
Any ideas?
