Hi
I've been struggling to get my school's seventeen new Win7 netbooks to consistently apply the pupils' account policies when they log on. When pupils log in, they should be redirected to the pupil desktop and have various IE settings mapped drives and security settings applied.
I would say these apply about 60% of the time. When they don't, they are not redirected to the pupil desktop and most of the other settings don't apply. Usually, this can be remedied by a restart - but that's not great for a teacher who has to have the netbooks working straight away.
The annoying thing is that they don't fail to apply uniformly. Some will work first time and some won't. When I do a gpreport, they all (even the ones that work) fail on the same thing - folder redirection, listed under Component Status. It says the following:
Folder Redirection failed due to the error listed below.
Cannot complete this function.
Additional information may have been logged. Review the Policy Events tab in the console or the application event log for events between...
I've tried taking out all the policies that include folder redirection and I still get this error. I've also tried moving the shares from a Server2003 machine to a Server2008 machine, but it still happens. I am getting severely fed up now! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
