This is not a question about cracking a password. I'm just trying to identify what kind of password it is. This is an Acer K-series laptop. The hard disk has been removed and so has the motherboard battery. It's been out for weeks.
What I get on boot is a totally black screen that has in its center, simply this: "enter password:" (without quotes).
I see no jumper for clearing the BIOS and since the button cell has been out for weeks, I'm wondering if this is one of those motherboard passwords that bricks a system.
Again, this is not a question about cracking a password; it is a question about simply identifying what kind of password it is.
Also, does anyone know where I can find a main board manual?
