Greetings,
I have spent roughly three straight evenings trying to solve this problem, and have been all over the internet searching for solutions.
My Dell Dimension 310 (Windows XP) was running so slow it was unusable so I proceeded to use the Symantec System Restore (Control Key + F11) to get it back to it's factory settings. That worked great and cleaned up my computer but there was no Ethernet Controller Driver when I restarted the computer...so after reading a number of threads on a variety of websites I used a thumb drive and downloaded and installed the following drivers in strict order:
1. Chipset--Dell Driver Dell Device (R114566)
2. Video--829156 Express Chipset Family (R126541)
3. Network--(R) Pro/100 VE Network Connection (R105478)
4. Audio--Sigmantel Driver (R114282)
Unfortunately, I still do not have an Ethernet Controller Driver.
Any Thoughts?
Thanks,
BMac
