Today sees the launch of Ubuntu 12.10, which is called Quantic Quetzal. And while users will be scrambling to download and try out the new operating system, Canonical will be working towards the next release: 13.04. That also means it needs a new name.
Canonical CEO Mark Shuttleworth has been quick to react and this morning posted the winner. Ubuntu 13.04 will be called Raring Ringtail.
The Ringtail part refers to a Ring-tailed raccoon, which is native to North America. Its typically dark brown with a distinctive balck and white striped tail, has large purple eyes, and is smaller than your typical housecat. It is very agile though, with an ankle that can rotate 180 degrees making it a great climber.
