Possibly someone can help with this problem. I've had my Gateway desktop 556GE since 2005. Past few days when I turn the desktop on the monitor doesn't go to the regular desktop right away. It goes to the desktop (maybe 1/4 of it) and then flicks off and then flicks on showing 1/4 of the desktop screen again, for about 5 or 6 times and then the full desktop screen comes up.
Does that mean the monitor is on it's way "out?"
If so, would any other monitor work with this 2005 Gateway desktop? I am a novice with this and therefore don't know what to do. Do not have another monitor to test on this desktop, but presume it is the monitor that is going bad and not the desktop. Wouldn't you say?
Monitor is FPD1760 TFT LCD 17" LCD Flat Panel, Display interface DVI VGA (HD-15) etc.
Any help appreciated. Don't have much money to spend on a expensive new monitor.
