(Dell Vostro 1500, Windows XP Hm (2002) SP3, Intel T7300- 2 G Ram/ I.E. 8/Outlook Express)
10/26/12 problems trying to remove (5 attempts) AVG 2013 software program with add/remove in control panel. SUDDENLY numereous key stroke problems appeared.
1) Takes 3-4 clicks on I.E. icon to access internet, 1st 3 attempts try to open but page closes. Sometimes 1st blank page locks in place. Can NOT close out internet by clicking "RED X" must ALWAYS use 'ctrl/alt/delete'. (No problem using FireFox)
2) Can NOT open a new 'tab', right clicking or left clicking w/ctrl key ALWAYS shows a tab "eConnecting" over and over that NEVER can be opened.
3) Majority of the time can NOT open 'link' in an email or on a site.
Tried 'System Restore' with no change. Un-installed/ Re-installed I.E. 8 with no change. Scanned entire system with several programs and found NO malware/spyware/malicious software or viruses. Used 3 different registry "optimizers", one states no errors w/other two stating 29/35 errors relating to 'Missing/Empty or 'Not found' registry keys.
If Registry has been Altered/Corrupted/Lost Keys, can the registry be Restored/Repaired ??
Will re-installing the operating system correct these issues and/or is it NECESSARY??
At a LOSS, ANY answers/suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated before machine crashes. Thanks to all.
