I have need to restore my new Dell 17R 5720 laptop running Win 8 back to the factory configuration. According to the documentation I downloaded from the Dell site, the way to do this is by tapping F8 during POST to access the Advanced Boot Menu and select Repair. Then go from there.
Tapping F8 has no effect whatsoever. The machine just continues booting into Windows. I've tried it numerous time for, as most know, its a short period of time when the command can be entered. I'm certain I got it entered.
This is most likely a question for Dell tech support, but I thought it prudent to see what the group on TSG might have to say about it. One factor may be this machine has the relatively new UEFI instead of the well known BIOS,
The computer also has the Dell backup and Recovery program installed, but that appears to be associated with creating and recovering to backups made by the user.
I've posted on the Dell forum. Maybe something will come from them. I strongly dislike having to contact Dell support by ohone, but it may come to that. Any help mucho appreciated.
