Reboot frustration

I have attempted tp resolve this pronblem with a tech on another site with no luck and thought I would try here. It is something I can live with but it is frustrating. I have XP SP3 and am running IE8 with a wireless router. What happens is that, while touring the net and clicking on a new site, the load bar will show about 3 bars and then stall out and I am unable to load the page. During the time the computer is on during the day and night this will only happen maybe once or twice. The only cure is to reboot. Once I reboot the problem is gone until the next time it happens. I can tell when it is about to happen by noting the symbol and site name or number at the bottom left task bar area. If I see a little black clock and see the "name" of the web site [connecting to techguy.org for example] then things will be fine. However if I see a little magnifying glass with the site number [connecting to site 207.78 for example] then I know that I will need to reboot the computer. The page will not load. Since it only happens about once or twice a day I can live with it but still would like the issue resolved if possible. Formerly trying to resolve the problem we ran complete malware scans, checked the router for number of devices connected and a few other items.
The only associated items that might have been connected to the beginning of the issue were a new wireless HP printer [which we we reinstalled to no avail] and a digital camera automatic photo load called EyeFi. [set camera near computer, turn it on and photos automatically load]. As I mentioned everything else on the computer runs absolutely fine until this gremlin raises its ugly head. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
