Hey, everyone,
My dad is in an extended care facility while he gets rehab and PT for a total knee replacement.....I'm here staying with him for the day (he's got other health issues and we kids want someone with him all the time and it's my turn), and I've got my laptop connected to the facility's wifi. I can connect to the internet fine, I can browse, and I can receive email from MOST of my email accounts......BUT, I cannot receive any email from any gmail account, nor can I send out from ANY account.
The staff have no idea, though one woman said that it has come up with a few people in the past. When I make a wifi hotspot with my smartphone, then it all works perfectly, so it's definitely something on the facility's end. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Not that it's a huge problem, as I can always use my phone's wifi if I have to send something out immediately that won't wait till I get to my parent's house (where I'm staying at night), but it's curious, and the people here who do the general troubleshooting don't have any idea what is blocking email out for some people. Who knows if this minor thing would ever end up getting kicked up to the IT department, lol. Mostly I just wondered if it were something I could change on MY laptop that would help.....or if it is not something I can do anything about and will just have to put up with the inconvenience of starting up my phones wifi every time I need to send something. :p I'll be here for a few days, so I was hoping someone might have some suggestions. :)
