Possible Mico.Word Hijack or Just Stupid Me

It never fails that I need you guys once or twice a year! My latest issue: when going to open Word or Excel documents that opened previously, it cannot and proceeds to download the programs. Then says it still could not open and to repair. I've done the repair, it says that it has completed, and I have to start all over again.

I have recently gone surfing to new web sites looking for a gaming console and suspect redirection malware. Another possibility is that when I was in regeditor deleting leftover traces of an incompatible Nero, I deleted something important. Hard to say hpow exactly this happened.
