Upgrade Help to Windows 7 or 8

I use Windows XP and it does everything I need.

I know that I will have to upgrade but my requirements are basic internet access. They are website contact and emails.

I used the “Microsoft Upgrade Assistant” and my computer will allow upgrade to either Windows 7 or 8 with minor adjustments.

But I have not used either of these operating systems and I am a bit worried about the learning curve and the time it will take to become familiar.

I was thinking about changing the hard drive to Crucial v4 SSD which I believe would give faster transfer speeds. But this would not be a high priority and I have ample free space on the existing hard drive.

Any suggestions would be helpful.
