I have downloaded updates to Windows-10, but only a few automatically install. How do I force the installation of an update. One file says it is installing, but never does. All the others say that they are waiting to install. Most of the updates relate to security.

Hi guys and thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
A couple of days ago I noticed something flash up so quickly ran a scan with avg to be told vbs/agent had infected this computer.It seemed to be moved and healed so didn't think too much more of it.Sadly it seems webpages will no longer open,passwords won't be accepted etc so wondered if you had any ideas.I am not able to download TSG sysinfo so will type out what I can find.

im using a HP Compaq nc6400 with an upgrade from windows XP pro to windows 7 ultimate 32 bit operating system and I cannot make a administrative account and my guest account is stuck as the administrative account....and wont let me turn on the built in administrative account,it says access denied with the error 5. please help....

If I put the comment line

into foo.bat I can open the jpg by clicking on the link (which does not make sense exept in the following question).
However if I double click on

foo.bat does not start. The command window does not open.
How should the comment line look like? I am looking for a convenient way to start a batch file.

I am new to this site and this is my first post. I am having issues with ddos attacks. They started after I moved to a new location and upgraded our internet at the house. Microsoft confirmed that it was happening to my xbox one and now it has spilled over onto my computer. I have had to reninstall 7 several times and the last time I couldn't use my partion because it became corrupted. I have a fire wall on our wireless router, and Use Norton firewall.

Using
hp pavilion g7 laptop
AMD A4-3300M APU with radeon hd graphics 1.9 ghz with turbo boost
6 gb ram
blu ray optical drive (not BR writeable)
500 gb hdd
Had Win 7 but upgraded to Win 10

So i got a Netgear C3000. I live in a 18 tenant apartment building, so not huge. We've been using the Wifi with good 50 Mb speed until a few days ago, the speed tests went down to between .5-2 Mb/s.

The TW tech came out, tried it on his modem and an actual Time Warner modem and it was the same. Perfect wired speed, terrible Wifi speed. He thinks there's some kind of new interference somewhere, but can't pinpoint it exactly, understandable. I live in an apartment with 4 other roommates, each are online gamers and streamers, that's 5 people using the same internet. Tried connecting only 1 PC to wireless and still same results. Tried different channels. Nothing.

So before we go and lower the internet speed; Is there a good, relatively cheap router/modem that doesn't pick up interference? Expensive router/modem that doesn't pick up interference? Or should I just get a modem/router with a bunch of Ethernet switches and a bunch of Ethernet cables 100+ft to wire around the apartment? I'm at a loss, and I really don't want to limit the internet between 5 gamers xD

Over the last few months, my entire computer has slowed down dramatically. I defrag regularly, use CCleaner at least several times a month if not more, run my Avast scans fairly often, and clear my Adobe Flash and internet files often. I have gone into startup processes and tried to turn off anything that I could be sure I didn't need, but I am limited in my knowledge.
I can't think of anything else to do.
I have run a scan of my computer's performance, and it showed Processor-7.2, RAM- 7.5, Graphics- 4.2, Gaming Graphics- 5.0 (2943 MB total available graphics memory), and Primary Hard Disk 5.9 (796 GB free). I know my system is older, and I need a new graphics card ( I would love some suggestions of one that will work with my system that is not too expensive), plus I assume I need more RAM (again, I don't know what my overall system can handle).
But, it was working not too bad only a few months ago, so I am at a loss as to what has changed. I have run Hijackthis and this is what I got, but I did get a message saying my system denied write access to the Hosts file. It told me to edit it myself, but I thought I should post this version first. I don't want to mess anything up, and I'm not really sure what that message wants me to do.

recently i bought a lenovo edge 15 with 8gb of ram and a nvidia 840m.

Almost every game is hitching, i play skyrim and fallout 3 which are known to be problematic, but even dragon age origin which should be finehas this problem, basically the frame drops keeps stable then it drops and skips.

I don't how to stop it, no matter the setting this keeps happening

The computer I have was built by my husband in 2011. I know little about the hard drive(s) in it and what is installed on them. I believe it uses Windows 7. I had a power outage and now get an error message when starting the computer that says "reboot and select proper driver". I put in Windows 7 disk and ran scan & repair options which turned up no errors. When I access the BIOS I have 4 hard disks listed. I have tried changing the order in which they boot from but nothing works. When I set it to boot from the first drive listed I receive an error saying "detecting drives, None : no drives found" Placing any of the other 3 drives as the first boot device results in a message saying "bootmgr is missing". I have an external hard drive which I believe was used to back up the computer but when I connect it with usb no prompts come up to access it. I am inexperienced with computers and don't know what to do now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Before I upgraded to Windows 10 recently, I liked to have a favourite .wav sound play when I shut down my system. Now, with Windows 10, if I go to "Control Panel/Sound/Sounds/Program Events" there doesn't seem to be the option of "Shut Down System" or similar so that I can add a .wav sound. Is there any way I can arrange this in Win 10?

The gentleman I work for was currently using a DSL connection and an Airport Time Capsule A1470 for wireless and back up for his Mac computers. He switched providers, rather than rent a modem he purchased a Motorola Arris SB6141. When the new modem is hardwired connected we are getting a good signal, but when connecting the Airport Time Capsule we can't get a signal. I tried unplugging and also pressed the reset button on the Time Capsule.

I am at a loss of what else to do to help him. I have spoken with Comcast (service provider), they will not assist because the modem doesn't belong to them. I spoke with Motorola, established that we have an internet connection while on the phone with them by hardwiring and Apple support would not assist without having to purchase a new warranty plan.

I feel that there is just something very simple I am overlooking and really hope that someone on here can help me out.

My boss is a really great guy and I would hate to see him have to purchase a warranty plan just to get a connection to the internet with a new modem and new service provider.

So I think I might have malware. I noticed before I upgraded to win 10 I was using Win 7. Would notice that random keyboard keys would stop working. For example would try to type the number 6 on both the top part of the keyboard and then on number pad. the num lock buton was on and still wouldn't work. A restart fixed it. Then Other random keys would do the same. Took it to a repair shop and they said the drivers and wiring on my notebook where fine. I have tried using Norton, Malware bytes and adw. Nothing shows up, but malware bytes and adw both seem to skip the root kit scan even though its clicked. Tried downloading Farbar and that won't even run. (could be a compatibility issue.) I also noticed that my downloads sometimes act funny. Feels like I'm possibly being redirected or proxyed onto another server (or other form of the internet. lol sounds funny but ive heard of such things.) Had to call Microsoft tech support just to be able to connect to their server to DL the windows 10 iso because the app wouldn't install and the tech couldn't figure out why. I have also had confirmed DDOS attacks which started with my xbox one and are now affecting my computer. Both my gmail and outlook email where hacked into. My Girlfriends gmail just had an attempt to be logged into so I'm thinking its malware, spyware, and or keyloggers. They could have verified the security certificts and renamed the software to avoid it from being removed. I also notice that at times my cpu locks up in win 7 and now in win 10. Don't know what to do. Could use the help.

Hey guys... I have a HP Pavilion a1630n Desktop with a A8M2N-LA (NodusM3) motherboard. The onboard graphics card went out and I would like to replace it with a PCI Express x16 card. I am not a gammer or anything of the sort. It has a 300 watt PS and I don't want to do any upgrades. I want to just do your normal computer operations... web, word and e-mail. I know it's an old PC and I need video to either re-install Win XP or install Win 7. Can anyone recommend a card that I can install without upgrading the unite. Hi,

I've read through a could of threads but have yet to find any answers for my problem. Basically my internet runs fine when a device is directly connected to my modem. However, when running through a router I get 2-10 second disconnects at random intervals on all devices hooked up to the router, be it wired or wireless. I've already tired three different router, all different brands, among other various things like updating/switch firmware and changing the router over to a new wall socket with no luck. I had my service provider come out and switch the modem, but that didn't help any. Any help would be appreciated.

I am not a novice and used to give advice on these pages. Myself or my partener as never had a virus, get through to our system
and the only rootkit was the famous Soney one. The only problem we seem to get is caused by Windows. Like many we disaproved of windows hideing its advertiseing in a security download??? so like many other users I decided to remove the GWX.exe update KB3035583 I check both our systems every week when I tried to acces sfc /scannow command (System File Checker) all I saw was a flash of the black command window and a restart started windows running its dont turn off you PC .
I have not yet removed the update from my system untill I am sure it is the cause.
Would realy appreciate your tecnical assistance on this one I dont want to loose windows 7 and move to Mac because of my programs will not all run on mac but Windows as just about had its lot with me.

I have a Dell Latitude D630 with a video problem. When booting the machine boots fine and displays the windows desktop. Soon afterwards you can hear a popping sound and the screen goes blank.

When you look at the screen with a flashlight you can see the icons and the desktop. I thought maybe it was an inverter problem. Got a new inverter and it still does the same thing.

This is a refurb. Dell laptop running windows 7.

Any suggestions?

I have my laptop with Win 8.1 set to automatically download updates and to notify me when any are available so I can see what they are before installing them. When I realized that my almost-daily Windows Defender definition updates were not showing up, I investigated and found no check for updates had occurred since August 4th. Trying a manual check, I got an error message with a code of 80244019. Nothing I found in Windows Help or on the web has been useful.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Other than installing updates, I haven't made any changes whatsoever to the laptop in months.

I have been given a laptop that has the previous owner's settings and programmes on it and it is running quite slowly. I have installed an up to date version of adobe reader but I'm not sure what else needs doing to it ie what programmes I can remove or add. Are there some checks I can do on the commans prompt to make sure there's nothing wrong with it?

Hello again TSG forums,

I have been struggling with bizarre software and hardware bugs for the past two weeks now and I am having some severe trouble nailing down what exactly is the problem.

I've re-installed windows several times now after thinking that I had corrupt system files (something that an SFC scan confirmed), but every time I re-install some new bugs appear. The most consistent bug has been a graphical glitch that sometimes appears, with lines of pink or green pixels appearing where there should not be any. Today a new graphical glitch started happening where the screen 'twitches' for lack of a better term, with windows moving position by 5-10 pixels and then snapping back to their original position. These glitches have persisted even through multiple re-installations of my graphics card drivers.

Chrome has been having issues as well, where I will either get repeated crashes on all windows (the 'aw, snap' error where the page crashes, but Chrome remains running, and refreshing the page only renews the error), or it will redirect some pages to an 'ERR_SPDY_PROTOCOL_ERROR'.

The Windows installation media was corrupt numerous times when I was trying to install Windows with it, and other installers have been corrupt too, be they downloaded on my laptop or on this desktop. The laptop has not shown issues.
I am concerned that this may be some sort of malware, or that it may be a failing hardware component, and I am unsure of how to proceed.

I want to clone my hard drive before I down load and install Windows 10. The only place that I have to deposit the cloned drive is on a remote hard drive. That hard drive has two folders full of important personal documentation (tax files, etc).

Will the data in those two folders remain in tact if I use Reflect to clone C:drive (where Windows 10 will land) before I down load Windows 10?

Second question: I have heard that Windows 10 installs itself after the free down load is complete (without human intervention). Is that true?

I reserved Windows 10 for both my desktop and my laptop. A couple of days ago, the laptop popped up a message that Win 10 was ready to install (had already been downloaded). First attempt failed (got message that "Something is wrong; try again later". . . which I did, and this time it installed. I wanted to try it first on the laptop because I don't have anything on it that's critical. Maybe it's just the "discomfort" that comes with a much different OS, but so far, I don't like it.

That brings me to the desktop on which I run a small business. I am in the middle of some critical projects and do not want to add to the workload by having to deal with a new OS, especially one with which I'm so far not happy. But Win 10 has already downloaded to the desktop, and every 3 days, a message pops up that it's ready to install. I defer the installation for another 3 days (that's all the pop-up allows) and have to keep doing that. So my question is, IS THERE ANY WAY TO DEFER THE INSTALLATION PERMANENTLY? I.e., if I want to try it in 3 months or so, I can choose to do so, but for now, stop it from constantly trying to install.

Hi everyone,

I haven't done this before and I'm finding it much more difficult than everything tells me I should be. I'm setting up a NAS - QNAP TVS463 - for the first time. I've connected it to a router - EdgeRouter Lite - and also connected my laptop - MacBook Pro running 10.10.5 - to the router. Both with ethernet cables. I'm following the directions QNAP gives me to set up the NAS, but I can't get Qfinder (their app for initial setup) to find the NAS on the the local network.

In System Preferences under Network I've tried playing with a few things since the initial attempts. Using DHCP didn't seem to be working, so I typed in the configuration settings IP address manually. I've tried a few permutations of this address on both the computer and QNAP NAS (it allows me to punch in specific IP addresses using a small LCD screen). Nothing I'm trying seems to get the computer to recognize this network.

I'm sure you need more information but I don't know what to provide that will be helpful. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am fully aware that there is a BTWifi with FON connection in this area, but my wireless adapter either doesn't want to pick it up or is somehow blocking it. I am using Edimax 11n USB Wireless LAN Utility, upon opening the edimax application I noticed that the "disable adapter" box is checked, but in network connections it is saying that it is enabled, any help?

This is the new PWM fan I bought






QA) May I know can I dismantle the old fan, then connect the new PWM fan in this way? Will I always get maximum speed if I connect this way?



QB) How can I connect a PWM fan to act as a normal fan?

QC) Why do people like to use PWM? Isn't it better to use a normal fan because it can work at maximum speed, and the components will be cooler?

I have a problem with Virus and Malware attack on my computer. For over a year now when I boot my computer for start up I get an error message that reads like this: ERROR LOADING C:\DOCUME~1\SAMUEL~1\LOCALS~1\TEMP\deo0_sar.exe


Does any one know what this means? I know it must be some kind of a Malware or Virus. I also do have flash drive that does NOT open when placed on computer. Help.

I was just notified that my NVIDIA GeForce 7100/NVIDIA nForce 630i is not compatible with Win 10 that I had reserved. Went to NVIDIA home page & it referred me to mnfr of my desktop PC because it came with it. Went to HP and found no help at all. Read previous post about a different NVIDIA problem and here is the info that one requested:

After waiting for the Win 10 upgrade to finish, I went back and saw the screen turned out with half of it black and half with color stripes like this

I tried to restart it several times, the only I could get to is the windows loading icon and after it show me the screen like the above again.
I am really desperate for urgent help right now, please help!

On the side of my computer I have two fans; one 70mm blowing in which is over the CPU and another 90mm blowing in at the bottom of the case.

My cpu is currently showing 96 degrees C which seems a lot to me it is a AMD Phenom X4 9950 Black edition.

Is this correct or should one of them be sucking air out?

The power supply also has it's own fan as does the Graphics card.

We are in need of some assistance. The admin login page to our site is no longer displaying for us to login and make updates, and we aren't sure how to get it back. We have been unsuccessful in reach our site designer....they are MIA. If anybody could help that would be great. We've been locked out for a week now. Below is our site.

Hello, I am trying to design a simple application that can open and view CAD models. However there are particular files that I need to be able to open. I am using the OpenTK API, which is based on OpenGL. However I do not know how to even begin writing the code to open these particular files. I have been told that "I
need to parse the file and translate it's data format to some common data format your renderer understands" I understand that I need to design a renderer that can display the model, and the particular features that I want to render (Vertex Maps, Normal Maps etc.), but how do you parse a file?


The particular file I want to display is a .prt file. It is used in Siemens NX Unigraphics CAD software.


Do I need to open the file with a text editor? Is that what parsing the file means?
