Hello there, I am facing this issue intermittently however since today its happening every time I try to watch a video online.
For browsing the internet works fine but when i try to view a video the connection goes away. I then have to use the windows troubleshooter which then resets the network adapter. I have a router and the pc is connected to the router with a usb ethernet adapter.
Before posting the question I did check the forum and tried the following to no avail.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista or 7.

Start - All Programs - Accessories and right click on Command

Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command

prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock

reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

NaturalReader, Intonation and Pronounciation

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post here and it concerns intonation and pronunciation in some instances when using NaturalReader. Is it possible to change either or both of these? I found that logical pauses can be inserted by using single or double set of three dots. Also, parentheses help change somewhat the accent not to say that spelling the word differently many times improves matters. However, there are sometimes cases whereby nothing helps. Is there any way to go deeper into the system and improve permanently the pronunciation as well as the intonation when text is read by NaturalReader?

Hi, when I go to amazon I get banners which say "This is not a joke you are the 100000 visitor...."

I attach the hijackthis .log
The system wouldn't run DDS
When I ran GMER and started the scan it ran for a while and then the laptop went blue screen.

I'd be grateful for any help.
Cheers
Steve

Vista slow boot up

Hi there,

I am using Vista 32-bit and when I first bought this PC, vista would boot up fast. Now there is a 30-40 second delay every boot up. I unchecked everything in msconfig, removed large and unneeded programs, tried to optimise registry settings etc. Can someone look at my hijacklog, perhaps there are unneeded processes loading up.

Windows 8 crashed, now SSD (boot drive) is missing in bios - help please.

I have a Corsair Neutron GTX 120gb SSD in a new computer (all parts brand new), I did a clean install of Windows 8-64 bit, on it, and it worked ok'ish for a week, one or two odd moments with tiles/apps closing of their own accord, then it crashed (while i was out of room) and said something like - error loading OS or cant find/load MBr / or windows (black screen), or something like that (sorry i dont remember exactly what it said).

i tried lots of things to recover with win8 install disk but no luck.

On looking in Bios, the SSD was no longer showing.

I ran HD tune software and it failed one of the health checks, i think it was Raw Read Error Rate, but cant be sure as i didnt write it down.

To "fix" it i eventually had to remove the SSD, plug it into another PC, format it, both the small 100mb (?) fat32 partition and the main 100+gig ntfs partition, reinstall it in my main pc, and it showed in bios again.
I re-installed windows 8, clean install on the SSD again, it worked great for another week, then it crashed again,
this time as i was sat in front of it -

Blue screen of death,
"KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (fastfat.SYS)"

then black screen - "error loading OS",
and on looking in Bios the SSD is again missing.

Can anyone help please? Faulty SSD? Any ideas?

Many Thanks,
Deckard6

computer makes little scratchy noises-on or off

Last night I was awakened by little "electronic" scratchy noises. I discovered they were coming from my computer, which I had turned off for the night. It sounded almost like someone scratching at a screen or sparky sounds, about three or four seconds each time.

This has happened several times today, whether my computer is on or shut down. Any idea about what this could be...and what I need to do about it?

How do I update the DRAC 4/p SysInfo via OMSA?

0

I just put a new (to the server) DRAC 4/P card in a PE1800 running 2k8 R2 and OMSA 7.2.

My issue is that it came out of a PowerEdge 840 running 2k3 and now I cannot figure out how to update the system information. I am told it can be done via OMSA but I cant find where to do it, all it gives me is the the DRAC IP, etc.

Does anyone know how to update this or do I need to update the DRAC config elsewhere?

logon screen after display turned off

i've googled myself in circles with this one. i have two accounts, mine which is admin and passworded, and my wife's which has no password. it is a desktop and i have the screensaver set to come on in 15 mins and the "on resume, display logon screen" checkbox checked. i also have the display set to turn off after 20 mins and never put to sleep. if the display is off, whenever i hit a key to turn it back on, it automatically logs in to my wife's account. even if i her account was logged of before.

IPod Won't Sync

My ipod won't sync. I did a restore on it and it still won't sync. It starts up and says it's syncing and then after about a minute stops. When I eject and look for files, there is zip. I have a 120 GB IPod. I have looked on Apple forums and find this business very confusing. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

New build, maybe a cooler problem?

0

I just did a new build to wit; ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 MOBO, AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz processor, Corsair Hydro Series H100i Extreme Liquid/Water CPU Cooler, COOLER MASTER HAF 922 case, G.SKILL Ares Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3 SDRAM, SeaSonic X Series X-850 PSU and an ASUS HD7770 VGA.
Built as directed above (guide sticky) did an initial boot (just kinda to check the airflow) and it did indeed run for about 20 seconds and shut down, and will not restart. Green light comes on the MOBO and the VGA and stays on but nothing happens when I push the power button. (no beep, no fans, nothing..dead) When I installed the CPU cooler I plugged it up as instructed but their is a SATA plug that is not connected. The instructions said nothing about this, it hangs off of the same pigtail that the fan plug is on off of the cooler itself. Does this need to plugged in? How can I troubleshoot the problem? You guys always fix my stuff, the greatest tech help on the web! Thanks in advance for any response.

I'm confused. I loaded Win7 a couple years ago with an "installers" disk. But I have never had the capability of creating restore points with it. I'm trying to utilize backup on an external connected storage drive with NTFS 465 kb availability. Yet I always get the response, "Windows backup encountered a problem while determing additional locations of one of the users included in backup. The parameter is incorrect." There are no other users.

My previous Vista did not have this problem, that I recall.

Can you advise further on my problem, and also what differences I should expect between a typical boxed version of Win7 Home Premium...and the "installers" version I have now.

Thanks!

Not sure if I have the right forum, and my computer isn't running badly at all. But I'm a little confused on why I have so many running processes. Do I need to post a HiJack this scan? At a loss on how to proceed.

Thanks for any and all help,

Margie :)

Google Chrome

Giving Chrome a trial run and have a couple of questions...

I'm used to having no ads from using Adblock Plus plugin in FF. Any kind of feature like that available for chrome?

I'm also able to access sites with FF normally available to IE only (like windows update catalog) using the FF IE Tab Plugin. Again, anything like that for Chrome?

Got the RoboForm feature working, but not fond of the interface where one must clink 3 times to get to a site. Also unable to get "Fill Forms" on the context menu. Any thoughts on that?

I've not as yet (and may not) sign up for the Chrome account. What advantages exist in doing so.

At first blush, I'm not sure I care for Chrome. Customization appears to be somewhat limited.

Gotta say... Chrome is very fast, but FF v20 ain't all that far behind... :D

BTW... OS is Win 8
