Hi I have a Asus motherboard P8Z77-V LX, which according to the spec the LAN supports speeds up to 1000 mps http://www.conrad.com/ce/en/product/...r-ATX?ref=list
I live in the UK and virgin media have upgraded my 100 meg internet to 152, I can't get speeds beyond 65 meg. I contacted there tech support, and they remotely checked my PC and told me my LAN only goes up to 100 MPs and I would need a new lan adapter.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bw7S...p=docslist_api
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bw7S...p=docslist_api
There screens of my control panel what the virgin media tech was checking.
I have a virgin media super hub version one directly wired to the desktop, it also has a ps3 wired and virgin TiVo box.
Any advise or help would be appreciated.

Avg Free Directory Update Timelength

This is not a problem, merely a request for illumination. I regularly update AVG Free by downloading various large files onto a memory stick on someone else's computer, and then do an update from directory. This works.
The question is, why does it take such a long time? What is it doing? It gets up to about 40% done fairly quickly and then hits treacle. Let me emphasise that this is not a problem at all. I start it up, go to bed, get up in the morning, hopefully, and the update is finished. Totally painless, no problem. I'm just curious.
For what it is worth, nothing, I suspect, on the basis of no evidence whatsoever, that the treacle phase may be the virus definitions. I don't know why I suspect that.

dlink cameras not connected to network

Hi Guys,

I need a bit of support, and thanks in advance.

I have had nothing but trouble with my dLink camera setup, but finally got it working with only the occasional drop out. A few weeks later all cameras disconnected, I tried setting them all up again, and factory resetting the NVR (DNR-322L)with no luck. After checking everything I could I found that when the camera's were added to the NVR they were only their own channel 1, 2, 3 or 4 respectively. However once I close the set up, they all revert back to channel 1, and only one camera works. When I try and change the channel back their is only the option of channel 1.

And if anyone can assist with something more than 'turn it off, and turn it back on', or 'get a pen, and find the small button on the back, press that button for at least 10 seconds' that would be greatly appreciated.

Do Not Archive in Outlook 2010

I am trying to use the option of the Do Not Archive checkbox in Outlook 2010. I have added that column but the only emails that have that checkbox in the column as an option are emails that have been received from internal network senders. Any email that was received from an outside sender does not have the option to choose to not archive the email. Any thoughts on why this is the case and how to fix this issue?

Can I use an iMac as Monitor for a Raspberry Pi?

Hello!

So, I have a Raspberry Pi (B+) system that I would like to connect to an iMac to use as a monitor. Can it be done? The Raspberry Pi system has an HDMI port, so would it work if I use an adapter from that to the iMac's Mini-Display (Thunderbolt) Port? These adapters are used often to connect Apple devices to TV's, but I don't know if it works both ways. I just want to be sure before I purchase the adapters.

Thanks!

Which TV shall I keep? Bush or LG?

Hi, I currently have two TV's

Bush 37" (model: LCD37883F1080P)
LG 32" (model: 32CS460-ZA)

I'm not sure which to keep? now, the bush is water damaged but works fine, no image problems at all but the picture quality (personal preference) is better on the LG.

Which one do you guys think I should go for? Quality or Size? Them extra 5" make a hell of a difference!

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if this is in the right place, I apologize if it isn't.

I just did a full system recovery this morning to take care of some problems and to have a fresh start. Not a few hours into reinstalling programs and downloading updates I got a BSOD. Here's a copy of the dump via bluescreenview.

Hello,

I cannot access my ftp server on one pc. It shows me that the password is invalid. On any other pc i could access the ftp server. I tried installing a 3rd party software (filezilla client ) and I get the same message.
I disabled firewall.
I also port forwarded port 21 to that specific pc. Nothing helped.
The ftp server is hosted by godaddy

Excel 2007 Chart Question

In the attached spreadsheet you will see a very simple line graph, it shows market values spread over a number of years, I would like to differentiate between actual values (historical) and future values by perhaps changing the line colour as it goes to the projected values or making it dotted or something like that. Is that possible ?

Disconnected Network between XP/Windows7

$

We have a network drive for shared files set up on a Windows 7 desktop in our offices. I'm on a Windows XP (SP3) desktop and connect to it. We have a ubee DDW365 modem and Belkin router. We have wireless turned off and connect through cables plugged into the back of the router.

Every week or so, I get a message the the shared drive is disconnected. We have to restart the Windows 7 desktop and then the connection returns. This sometimes occurs when no one is in the office, and sometimes when I'm in the middle of working on a file. Seems quite random in timing. Oh, and my internet connection does not get lost, just the connection to the shared drive.

I'm looking for ideas on why this is happening and how we can stop it. I'm not terribly techie, so detailed help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Intermittent Network Disconnection

I've had this problem off and on for the past year and decided to ask for guidance. I did a search through the forum, which yielded 4000+ posts. I'll admit, I did not read them all, but the ones I did read were all for wireless adapters. Here we go:

System:
Broadcom BCM57781 - NetLink Gigabit Ethernet adapters on motherboard. I have two ethernet ports on my system, but I am only using one. Teaming is not enabled (obviously). Driver version is 14.8.0.5. Interestingly, when I downloaded the latest driver from the ASRock website, it said it was 14.8.4.1, but when I install it, the Device Manager shows 14.8.0.5

Connected to a Linksys Etherfast 10/100 5-port workgroup switch (EZXS55W ver 2.0).

The switch is connected to my DSL modem (I can provide if needed, but I don't think it is the issue as you will read below).

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1.

Problem:
The network intermittently gets disconnected. May be fine for days, and then there will be 5 events in an hour. Does not seem to be tied to activity, as sometimes it occurs after I have left the system for awhile, and sometimes it happens while streaming.

An ipconfig /renew generates this message:
No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected.
An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.

This is always fixed by unplugging and then re-plugging the cable to the switch.
Other computers connected to the switch continue to work fine.
I have tried both ports on my PC with the same issue.
I have tried different ports on my switch with the same issue.

Thanks,
Pauley

Internet connection puzzle with Vista

I have a HP Pavilion laptop dv6000 running Windows Vista SP2. When I hover over the 'network' icon it indicates that the computer is not connected to any network and in fact the widgets on the screen that use the Internet indicate 'Service not available'. However when I go to the 'Network and Sharing Centre' and click on 'Connect to a network' it indicates I'm connected to the wireless router with 'excellent' signal strength.

Further, when I run network diagnostics it returns with '... did not find any problems with your Internet connection.'
