Hi, i really need help with my problem before i go to tech shop and get drained all my money

My laptop, windows 7 ultimate x64. Acer Aspire 4738zg suddenly shut off like the power been cutted off .

I recently got bsod with my graphic card and managed to fix it by updating the driver and with a clean format. Now another problem came up. After formatting my laptop works fine for about 2 days.

Then it suddenly shut off by itself whem im watching hd videos, surfing web or anything else within a period of time.

Ive been monitored the temp. The cpu temp were in normal temp (60c-70) even when multitasking with Hd vids, hd youtube, but the gpu is slight hot when im stressed it with multi tabs of hd youtube and vids (up to 95c) but it doesn't occur yet .then i closed all the task and surf the web or doing anythg else, then it shutt off with no restart, error, bsod

Btw my battery is out (consider replacing your battery).
Driver up to date.

I went to event viewer. It say kernel id 41 task 63 level critical.

Excuse my english and writing. Im a newbie and Im typing with smartphone right now as my laptop got this problem. Sorry

Bizarre Backup Battery Behavior

I have a TrippLite backup. Basic model, 4 outlets for surge protection only, 4 for surge and battery back-up.

I'm working away a bit ago and my computer and monitors just...die. Black. Nothing. But everything else was fine. The power hadn't gone out. My calculator and lamp, plugged into the surge protector side, they're still on, never flickered. Two monitors and tower, plugged into the battery...out. The battery didn't beep. It just quit.

The unit is probably 18-24 months old. I have no beef with it if it's dead, I'm just surprised at HOW it died.

Mostly I'm just curious. Does this sound weird to anybody else or is this a typical death?

Black screen with blinking cursor in top left

I tried installing Ubuntu 14.04.1 yesterday on my PC which was previously running Windows 7. When I went to install Ubuntu 14.04 using Unetbootin and remove Windows 7 I got as far as creating the partition where I correctly created the swap and then hit install and an error of some sort occurred and my computer completely shut down. Now when I go to turn on my computer all I am getting is a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left corner of the screen. It seems like my entire disk has been wiped. I burned Ununtu 12.04 to a DVD on my other computer and tried just re-booting the computer hoping it would boot to the CD but the computer won't boot to the DVD. I even went into the boot options and set the DVD to boot 1st and I still end up on the black screen with blinking cursor. Any suggestions?

Solved: Anyone remembers "Go Video" of over 20 years ago

Had to put the "20" year bit in title so as not to confuse anyone with the recent "Go Video" camera company. Who Knows, maybe they are the same company. It does have the year 1993 on it. Anyhow...I was cleaning out some old closet and I came across this brand new box of "Go Video". I recall opening it when I first bought it, but through the years I forgot all about it, till now. It was meant to for VHS, TV and built in amplifier. It was suppose to with the proper hook up, make you see another channel while recording one. Restores P.I.P. if your TV has that function. Prevents signal degradation and eliminates the need for splitters and A/B switches. In other words it suppose to restore features that the cable box took away. I suppose instead of the VHS, it may work with a DVR recorder. I don't know. I do not have one. Does anyone know if this is obsolete by now?

Android e-mail re-downloads deleted mail unless it has been read

I am accessing my e-mail account (on Roadrunner, provided by my ISP) from several machines. Two machines dual boot Windows 7 or Ubuntu and access the account with Thunderbird, and my wife accesses the account from an iPad. Now we have two new smartphones, running Android 4.4.2. From the phones we access the account with the Motorola default app, which identifies itself as just "Email".

It seems that the Android e-mail app is kind of dumb. On both phones I have the account setting set to leave e-mail on the server (as opposed to delete when deleted from the inbox.) My problem is that I want to be free to delete mail that is of no interest to me, without having to worry whether my wife has read it from one of the other devices, and vice versa. But unless I open each message to mark it as read, the Android e-mail app will download it again even if I have deleted it from the trash folder. There doesn't seem to be a way to keep unwanted mail out of the phone unless it has been opened on that phone. This is a nuisance since I like to keep clutter off of my machines/phones. If I delete something, I don't want to see it again on that machine, regardless of whether I've actually read it.

In Thunderbird, I can set the account to retain mail on the server for a specified period, which starts when a message has been downloaded by any device. Once it has been read, a message is still available for download on one of the other devices, for a few days. But it won't be re-downloaded to the same machine again, regardless of whether it has been read, sent to the trash, or deleted altogether.

So, is there a smarter e-mail client out there that does a better job of "housekeeping" ?

There is a pop up saying its trying to run an unknown program on my computer. My friend said it's a virus of some sort. When I try to open anything else the pop up keeps coming up even after I am able to close it down with the task manager if I am able to open that at times. I have tried to download virus scans when it allows however then my computer says it can't because of my security settings. I am working in safe mode at this time and this is the only way that the pop up will let me work. PLEASE HELP ME fix this!

Hello, this is my first time here.

Anyway, I transferred some files to my flash drive, and then removed the drive after (13GB of space left. Max is 16GB). Now, when I rechecked the drive for my files, It showed that the used space is now over 15GB with less than 1GB of free space left.
When I checked the files inside, it was a load of weird files and folders named with weird symbols (Some Greek symbols and other letters).

I do have a back-up of the files but I really need the flash drive. Please help.

Unlocked verizon samsung S5 problems

So I'm from Britain visiting the US and my phone broke. I decided since I had some capital that I would utilise the good exchange rate and buy an unlocked s5 over here. I went into radio shack and they assured me the Verizon Samsung S5 I was buying was unlocked and I could use any sim in the phone.

Taking it home it had a pre-installed verizon sim that I figured I need to use to activate the phone. However the activation process isn't going to completion for some reason. I tried putting in my british SIM but it's coming up as unrecognised. Do I need to take this back to the store for a refund?

Problem with AOL email account - possible hacked - pleased help!!!!

Hello,

Just recently, I have been experiencing problems with my AOL email account. Many of my friends have stated that they have been receiving emails from me over the last number of days that I clearly did not send. I am concerned as I believe that this is a sign of the account being hacked. Just recently, I tried logging in and, for some reason, my password does not work.

Is there any way that I can take control of the account? I have tried changing my password, but I am having no luck with that, unfortunately.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have a problem with folders and video's opening way too slow.
when I try to open some folders, they have a green line across the top that slowly go from left to right. It takes several minutes on some folders to finally show all of the items in the folders. It will show the folder names under where the folder should be, but not the folder icon. They will finally appear after a long time.

Also some videos in the video folder will take a long time for windows media player to start playing the video.
These are home videos and they use to start immediately.

I have done scans with Avast antivirus and replaced it with Panda with the same results.

Thanks for any help that you can give.

Hello there,

Today I believe I clicked on something by accident, and ever since I've had ads popping up everywhere. Also, I get redirected to Bing and Trovi no matter what I do. I saw that someone posted the same issue on August 22 and looks like it was resolved, but I want to make sure I do everything right in case my situation is a bit different. Thanks!

Please help me buy a laptop

$

Please help me buy a laptop. I am looking in the $700 range (after discounts, sales, etc). Of course, less expensive is better. I am not into gaming or do any video editing. I just use a laptop for web surfing, word processing, streaming movies & TV, Skype, iTunes, and basic things like these. I am hoping for at least an i5 processor, 500GB storage (a hybrid SSD drive would be great!!), and 8GB memory if possible. A 15.6” screen is mandatory.

An important note: I WAS very seriously considering a Lenovo Z50 (great specs, including i5 processor, 8GB RAM, 500GB hybrid SSD) until I actually saw the laptop. I have never seen a cheaper keyboard ever, and I just did not want to buy something that looked and felt so cheap and flimsy despite the great specs.

Please do not recommend an Apple. I know some people love them, but if you recommend one you’re just wasting your time :)

Thank you for any help in narrowing my search!

Windows Firewall

Hello everyone,

I'm writing to you all concerning the windows firewall settings.

I am wondering what apps and features should I allow or not allow internet connection through firewall?

Is it wise to uncheck all apps and features from allowed apps in the windows firewall settings?

Which ones do I need to check and uncheck?

I am asking because I was told that allowing an app and feature to communicate lowers computer security risk and allows hackers to hack computer.

Here is the list of items that are checked for allowed apps and features:
